The girl’s golf team opened their season on Thursday, August 28 when they traveled to Ainsworth for their Invite. Rock County previously hosted the opening Invite, but they dropped their program. The girls had never played this course so it was new territory for them. The course was shorter than Plainview but had water on two holes just in front of the green as well as having each hole tree-lined on both sides.
O’Neill won the Invite with a score of 418 while West Holt was the runner-up with 448. Plainview was fourth with a team score of 491. Nicole Sorensen led the team with 110 and a ninth place medal. Kayla Bowman was just out of a medal with her 117 as she was in 12th place. Sam Hart was third for the team with a 125 while Sarah MacGregor finished the team scoring with 139. Tina Rosberg had her score of 166 not used.
The girls played well but they were not able to score because of lack of experience. Due to several activities, the team has been unable to play the Plainview course very much the past two weeks in preparation.
Their next meet is versus Norfolk Catholic on September 5th at Eldorado Golf Course.
