PLAINVIEW FFA: AT IT AGAIN!

The Plainview FFA chapter is again sending students to represent the community in the 2007 state FFA proficiency review.  6 Students: Michael Krause, Jamie Stark, Kenton Pollock, Lucus Gubbels, Aaron Keck, and Sarah Kumm, all received A gold rating at the district level, and all but Sarah’s application were selected as district representatives at the state Review process. In addition Michael’s and Jamie’s applications were also selected as our District Champions.  At the state level, Lucus, Aaron, and Michael, all received a Gold rating, and Michael was selected as a finalist, and will interview for the right to represent Nebraska at the National Level, as the Nebraska Proficiency winner.  He will be interviewing with two other students during state convention.  Michael’s Proficiency is based on part of his SAE.  Michael has bred and sold pure bred golden retrievers for the last 4 years as part of his FFA project, and his achievement of being a state finalist is a tribute to his dedication and hard work in everything that he does. 

Other students representing Plainview and Brunswick include the 6 students who will be receiving their state FFA degrees.  These students have keep records through high school, have completed the application, interviewed with a panel of Ag teachers, and meet all the minimum requirements laid out by the state association.  The students who will be receiving their degrees include: Michael Krause, Kenton Pollock, Sarah Kumm, Traci Steinkraus, Leonard Risinger, and Jacob Gubbels.  These students deserve your highest praise, as the state degree is one of the highest awards that a student can achieve at the state level.  Plainview will have 19 students representing us at the convention this year, where they will be competing in contest and participating in workshops.  One such contest will be the Welding contest.  This years welding team which is comprised of Chance Anderson, Jeremy Tarr, and Jacob Gubbels, placed 2^nd in our district competition, and Jacob was the champion welder in the ARC welding division. Michael Krause and Luke Lingenfelter will also be participating in the state FFA honor choir, and will be performing on stage at the evening session.  In all Plainview Public Schools can be very proud of the Students representing the FFA this year, and we look forward to the continued success of this program.
