It was supposed to be on of the top games in the state last Friday, and it lived up to all the hype. In a back and forth contest, Stanton scored last to come out on top with a 20-16 win.
The Pirates were led by a balanced ground attack with 4 backs reaching over 40 yards. Andrew Holton had 78, Tyler Holton 54, Tyler Wattier 53, and Teran Boyer 41. Wattier was 3-5 through the air for 42 yards.
I thought our line played well up front. We were able to move the ball all night long. We just have to learn how to finish drives. We got down to their 5 yard line 3 times and only got 3 points out of those trips. However, I was very pleased with the kids effort. When they got behind they always kept battling back. What this game proved to me was that when we play well we can play with anybody in the state. We just have to keep getting better each week, so we can be playing our best football in late October and November.
IT is a short week for the Pirates as a much improved LHNE team comes to town on Thursday for a 7:00 kickoff.
