Future Educator Association Chapter Begins at Plainview High School
Students at Plainview High School now have the opportunity to become members of the Future Educators Association (FEA), an international student organization dedicated to supporting young people interested in education-related careers. Members of Plainview's Charter FEA chapter are Katie Goetzinger, Kelsey Cattell, Sara Christiansen, Ericka Albin, Celine Eggerling, Taylor Hampton, Abby Krueger, Erika Neumann, and Michaela Sirek. FEA is a federally recognized Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO). As the co-curricular component of state-recognized Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs of study, FEA enhances the classroom experience for students enrolled in Education and Training Career Cluster programs.
Members kicked off their first community service event by assisting FCCLA with the Plainview Community Easter Egg Hunt. Additional events and programs will be created and organized by FEA members with ideas being to offer tutoring services, assist teachers in classrooms, and help during the advantage programs at the elementary and high school levels. FEA will join FCCLA and FFA as CTSO’s offered at Plainview High School. Any 9-12 grade student interested in becoming a member can contact FEA Adviser Ronita Jacobsen. There are no course requirements for becoming a member of FEA, however, students need pay the annual state/national dues of $12. Any questions concerning FEA can be directed to Jacobsen by contacting the school.
