Northeast Scholastic Day
On Wednesday, March 20th, Mrs. Arehart, K-12 School Counselor, took 32 students to the Scholastic Day Competition and Quiz Bowl at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. Students are able to take a maximum of two tests each year, and they can only take one test in the same subject throughout their 4 years of high school. Quiz Bowl members were Captain, Keaton Eichberger and teammates: Jacob Hoffmann, Cameron Nelson, and Jade Rickard. If they weren’t able to make it due to testing, Carissa Wacker, Becca Kment, Brendan Rasumussen, Kylie Mosel, Kaydi Daudt, or Caroline Akinnigbagbe were able to sub in if needed. Plainview beat Burwell first round and lost to O’Neill by 5 points in the second round getting beat out due to single elimination.
For Scholastic Day, there are 45 tests, and we had 32 students taking tests with some of them taking 2 tests. Overall, Plainview placed 3rd along with Rock County High School out of 24 teams in Class D. Wausa Public Schools received 1st with 20 points, Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools with 19 points, and Plainview Public Schools and Rock County High School with 18 points. Students who placed in the top 3 were: Alexa Meyer (1st in Literature), Keaton Eichberger (1st in Drafting), Emily Fischer (1st in Technical Math), Peyton Lingenfelter (1st in Auto Technology), Riley Kaup (2nd in Algebra II), Brooklyn Kumm (2nd in Parenting and Child Development), Brady Scott (3rd in Body & Frame Dimension Diagnosis), and Kenzie Mozel (3rd In Spanish I).
