Child Development Students Earn Certificates
During Honors Night May 9, Child Development students Shayla Jacobsen and Kaydance Maertins were presented the certificates they earned in class by completing the Prepare to Care Health and Safety Training and the Cozy Corner Training Provided by the State Department for Early Childhood Educators. Following the courses, students created accounts and submitted their certificates to the State Department of Education.
During the Prepare to Care training provided the students with a general overview of Nebraska's health and safety standards. The training is designed for all Early Childhood applicants who are applying for childcare licensure and their staff, as well as all license-exempt childcare providers who receive subsidy payments. The four modules included are: Introductions and Welcome to Prepare to Care, Safe & Healthy Environment, Safe & Healthy Children, and Preparing for Emergencies. In the Cozy Corner Training, students learned about the concept of a Cozy Corner and how to set up and use one in an Early Childhood classroom or home.
